Newstead Home

A down-to-earth couple and their teenage son have outgrown their current home and pondered about building a new home by themselves. On top of building a new home, they had various opportunities of subdivision and contributing to the local community by developing accessible and aging-in-place residential developments to their site, as well as to enhance the property value into the future.

With a love for landscaping, the community and crafting with their hands, this is an owner-builder project which adds heart to the town and its streetscape. The clients wanted to work collaboratively with their Architect to achieve a gable-formed architecture that gave a nod to the rural farming vernacular and a North-facing, sustainable home that could accommodate their growing needs and privacy.
