Whether it is a new build, extension or renovation, there are a number of design options to consider in relation to your needs, budget, energy efficiency, future-proofing etc. Taking the first step is sometimes the hardest part.

The Concept Design Workshop is aimed to provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision before embarking on your project.

The Workshop is suitable for people who are at the beginning of their Project, tossing up different ideas and wanting to explore different options and scenarios. It is an empowering, educational and intensive Workshop session with the Architect. In these sessions, I will listen carefully to what you want to achieve and bring insightful knowledge to explore the Project's Options.

 

The Service includes:

  • Meeting preparation (Planning Property Report analysis etc.), based on the initial information you provided

  • Assessing your site or property 

  • Client Questionnaire / Design Brief

  • Discussing your Design Brief

  • Workshopping concept layouts with you, testing various design options based on meeting your needs and energy-efficient ideas

  • Presentation of Concept Design

  • Refinement of the Concept Design based on your feedback

  • Discussing rough Project cost calculations, process and times frames, such as Cost of Works, permits, fees, specialist consultants, the building process, rough time frames, etc


 

At the end of the Workshop you be be armed with:

  •  A solid Project brief & Site Analysis

  •  A workable Design Concept layout

  •  An informed decision about your Budget in relation to the Project scope

How long does the process take?
It typically takes about 2-4 weeks, depending on the complexity of your project.

Full Architectural Services
 


Concept Design is typically the first step in the full scope of Architectural Services available. Each brief, site and project is unique and scope of services are tailored to suit your goals. A Fee Proposal will be provided to you, following a discussion of scope of services required. After Concept Design, a typical project could involve the following stages:

 

Schematic Design
 

  • Integration of adjustments from Concept Design following costing review

  • Discussion about Materials

  • Development of unresolved aspects of the Concept Design

  • Investigation of statutory and regulatory requirements

  • Make initial enquiries regarding council regulation and requirements

Town Planning
 

  • Coordinate required Specialist Consultants on behalf of the Client

  • Management of application process and liaison with Council

  • Preparation of drawings, reports and supporting documentation for Town Planning application

  • Co-ordinate preparation of updated forecast of Cost of Works

Design Development
 

  • Coordination of consultant engagement and input

  • Development of interiors including palette, finishes, appliances, fixtures and joinery design

  • Investigation of building servicing systems such as heating and cooling

  • Consideration of landscape design

  • Review of cost estimate

Documentation
 

  • Development of drawings and supporting documentation to obtain a building permit

  • Management of application process and liaison with Building Surveyor

Contractor Selection
 

  • Advise on contractor procurement method

  • Preparation of documents for calling of tenders 

  • Manage tender / contractor negotiation process

  • Review and advise on tender(s) received

Contract Administration
 

  • Preparation and execution of building contract

  • Overseeing of construction process

  • Periodic site inspections

  • Management of contractor queries, progress claims and variation requests

  • Monitoring and reporting of progress

  • Administering completion, defects and finalisation of the contract
