The Steel Ring Stool

Between the canopy of stringy bark trees, wild bushes and eroded creeks lays the steel ring stool that reflects the surroundings beyond it. It invites the raindrops to seep through the cracks of its steel envelope, the sun to warm its skin, the grass to grow freely into its feet and the spider to weave webs in its structure. With time, its skin glows a faint golden rust and it becomes part of its environment. Part furniture, part sculpture, it invites us to open its chest to place small, treasured objects that accompany us as we enjoy the quiet natural surroundings.

The stool is made with lengths of 3.2mm thick steel pipes, originally made to serve hydraulic tubing purposes. The steel stool is formed by welding and hammering sliced steel pieces onto a series of timber moulds milled on the CNC.
